Sift
Filter the noise. Keep the checklist.
HSA trading experiment · recommendations and timing only. Sift never places trades.
No new buy Monday
Monday, Nov 9 at the open: no qualified setup. Keep the settled cash in cash. ZETA is a research watch only (reports Monday after the close). ASTS is not a fresh long; treat the existing position as a Tuesday risk review.
As of Fri, Nov 6, 2026, 4:45 PM ET
Every name that currently qualifies is listed here. "No qualified setup" is a real call: Sift never forces a trade to fill a blank day.

Settlement helper
Settlement skips weekends, NYSE holidays, and bank holidays (Veterans Day Nov 11 and Columbus Day are trading days but not settlement days). Calendar covers late 2026 to 2027.
How Sift decides
- Scan every name with a real catalyst that day, but only show the ones that clear the existing score and vetoes. Empty days say "No qualified setup."
- After the report, judge the surprise against the company's own prior guidance and the actual release, not headlines. Follow the direction of a verified surprise for 1–3 sessions only.
- The options-implied move is context for how big a reaction already is. Sift never recommends options or straddles; HSA Invest Choice is stocks, ETFs, and funds.
- At entry time, require liquidity and above-normal relative volume. The opening-range break above VWAP is a timing aid, not a proven edge on its own.
- Note whether SPY and QQQ are moving the same way. That is context, not an automatic veto.
- No method catches every move. The goal is to not miss a checkpoint, not to trade every day.
Method gates
- A watch is not a buy. No buys before an event.
- Consider only after the release, after checking the company's own numbers.
- Entry only on a 15-minute opening-range breakout above VWAP.
- Set the invalidation level first. Target at least 2R. Exit within 1–3 sessions.
- Sized only to settled cash. No margin, no options on margin, no borrowing.
HSA compliance
- Trades that stay inside the HSA don't create a Schedule D capital-gains bill. Losses inside the HSA aren't deductible.
- Money stays in the account. Non-medical withdrawals are ordinary income plus a 20% extra tax if under 65.
- Never borrow against the HSA, pledge it as collateral, or buy or sell anything between yourself and the account. A prohibited transaction can disqualify the whole HSA as of Jan 1 of that year.
- US stocks settle T+1. Selling A, buying B with A's unsettled proceeds, then selling B before A settles is freeriding and can freeze the account for 90 days.
- An HSA is not a pattern-day-trader loophole. The real limit is settled cash under Regulation T.
